I am an organismal biologist with a background in regenerative/developmental biology, ecology, and natural history specializing in herpetology. I teach most of the biology and chemistry classes at the Norwich Campus along with some classes at the Morrisville main campus. As a practitioner in applied learning for more than 10 years, I enjoy and utilize research in my classes to enhance regular course work both during lecture and labs. I operate an undergraduate research lab whereby students can further their resume by taking part in a wide variety of projects and get college credit for doing so. Projects have ranged from salamander assemblages, aquatic drone efficacy in turtle surveillance, helping local entrepreneurs create better fungus growing kits for educators nationwide, aquatic system health and monitoring, and many more that have received local and state level recognition. Students in my lab have published in scientific journals and received presentation awards at several local and state-wide research conferences.
Additionally, I collaborate with local environmental agencies, non-profit organizations, school districts, and teachers to enhance educational delivery on a wide range of biological topics. I always look forward to collaborations, so if you have an idea, feel free to contact me.
Hello 😊 I have been working for SUNY Morrisville for 13 years teaching in the business administration and healthcare office coordinator programs. Prior to Morrisville I was the Adult Education Director for DCMO BOCES and spent 4 years as a HS business teacher. My past jobs have included working for an insurance company, a travel agency, and as a Blackjack/table games dealer for four years. I am fortunate to say I have loved all jobs I have held; however, teaching has been the most rewarding.
As director at DCMO BOCES, I supervised 27 fulltime employees, maintained numerous grants, coordinated a 32-page community education catalog supervising 50 part-time employees, and managed a $3 million budget.
I have belonged to numerous workforce and educational affiliations and presented at state and national conferences (NYATEP, NYACCE, LERN, USASBE, IAAP)
I earned my BS (Business and Distributive Education) from SUNY Oneonta, my MBA from Syracuse University, and my SDA (School District Administration) from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Massachusetts.
I like to read, golf, and create crocheted mosaic blankets. I know that makes me sound like a grandma - maybe because I am! I am blessed with 5 grandchildren. I wish you the best of luck with your educational endeavors and hope to see you in class where I can learn more about you.
My education includes a BS in Secondary Math from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1988 and a MS in Secondary Math from SUNY Oneonta in 1992.
I am a retired high school math teacher after a 33 year career and have been teaching mathematics part-time for SUNY Morrisville since 1996.
I am married to a fellow math teacher (who is also retired) and have three sons.
