The work of the designer and drafter creates the blueprint of American industry. You will plot this future as a student in SUNY Morrisville’s Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program in computer-aided design technology.
Combining the precision of manufacturing with the creativity of the digital design process, this program teaches you real-world skills in mechanical design, 2D and 3D modeling, CNC programming and machining, and materials testing.
Stressing written and oral communication, technical writing and advanced computer skills, you also will gain a firm foundation in the humanities, social sciences, physical sciences and mathematics.
As a graduate, you will find employment opportunities in a variety of areas, including as a CAD drafter/designer, engineering technician, product designer, or a manufacturing technician under the direction of design chiefs or project engineers.
Transfer options include pursuing bachelor’s degrees elsewhere in programs such as industrial, manufacturing or mechanical engineering technology.
